Really????

This is an actual Facebook post that someone I know posted yesterday:

Why can we as Americans send money and aid all over the world yet We refuse to help our on people, children are starving here in your town. Reach out to your neighbors you may be suprised that they are in need of help.

Then, wait for it, this is how someone else responded to it:

Because it gives them a warm fuzzy feeling to say that they helped out a poor country while they are poor people in our own country that are in hungary and hurting.

OK. I have just a few things to say about this. For starters, do you not read the bible? Matthew 28:18-20 says:

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations! Our nation, America, is a truly blessed country. The problem with Americans is that they are spoiled in their luxuries. Did you know that even a person here in America only making 10,000 dollars a year is in the top 2% of the wealthiest people in the world?

We say that we should keep our money and our time over here, but don't realize that even one dollar that we have here can do miracles in other countries who live in poverty.

I understand that there are people and children in our own country hurting, but what makes me upset about it is that everyone in America is looking for a handout. You give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. You teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime. Therein lies the problem with Americans. They don't want to learn. They don't want to help themselves. They want handouts.

Other countries where we give our time and money don't have the luxury of money or education to survive. When we go over there, we don't just give them money and say, Good Luck. We teach them to grow gardens, how to rebuild, how to make money, and to survive. Because unlike most Americans, they want to make a life for themselves. Not have someone else make it for them. They want to learn, they want to survive. Maybe I am just rambling, but, I know what the bible says. And the bible is my guiding light. What's yours? Your luxuries? Your wants? Your desires?

Get your priorities in line.
